È una risposta con il contro-attacco quella che Moby ha riservato al nuovo presidente USA Donald Trump, che si insedia ufficialmente alla Casa Bianca oggi 20 gennaio 2017. Infatti, mentre Mr. Trump toccava il suolo di Washington, l’artista ha ribadito il secco NO all’invito ricevuto dal neo eletto per la festa alla White House. Non solo, ma ha messo anche il carico da quaranta innanzitutto annunciando la release del videoclip di Erupt + Matter insieme a The Void Pacific Choir.

Il brano è tratto dall’album These Systems Are Failing, progetto dalla forte impronta politica e civile nel quale compaiono una serie di immagini di protesta abbinate ad altrettanti volti di leader politici mondiali. Tra questi – guarda caso – compare anche Trump (oltre al nostro Matteo Salvini)…
In secondo luogo, Moby rilancia, organizzando un’intima performance acustica in calendario proprio il 20 gennaio all’Hotel Café di Los Angeles; i proventi raccolti sono destinati a sostenere le associazioni Downtown Women’s Center, LGBT Youth Center e Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights. Sabato 21 gennaio, inoltre, è in programma un dj set live con Shepherd Fairey in occasione della Women’s March in LA.
Così Moby ha raccontato le ragioni del suo lavoro:
“L’estrema destra razzista e antiquata stanno levando le libertà in quasi ogni Pase dell’Occidente. Dobbiamo rispondere protestando, supportando i progressisti e soprattutto VOTANDO”.
E come dargli torto? Moby comunque non è stato l’unico a dire NO a Trump. Una lunghissima schiera di artisti gli ha girato le spalle, compreso una cover band di Bruce Springsteen. Si prospetta una strada tutta in salita per il nuovo presidente visto come è riuscito, ancor prima di iniziare, a dividere e spaccare non solo gli Americani, ma tutto il mondo occidentale.
